The Lake District

The Lake District is a mountainous region in the North West of England. It is a popular destination with tourists and is famous not only for its lakes, forests and mountains but also for its association with the poet and writer William Wordsworth. Within the National Park keen walkers and mountain climbers can find Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. With 12 of the largest lakes in England, it is a perfect place to relax.

Mountain biking, kite surfing, zorbing, horse riding and much more will keep the adventurous entertained. For those who like to take things a little easier, there are thousands of kilometres of walk/cycle paths from where visitors can explore the area and many towns and villages to visit.
